Unlock codes for a LG Optimus Black : all about
The LG Optimus Black (LG 855) was released in 2011 as part of the popular LG Optimus smartphone range and runs on the Android operating system. At its time of release is was one of the most innovative new smartphones, boasting a 2 megapixel front facing camera, the best quality front camera on any smartphone at the time, and was also LG’s thinnest smartphone offering at the time.
One feature of the LG Optimus Black that isn’t so new or innovative is the SIM lock placed on the handset to prevent it being used on any mobile network bar the one it was purchased on. Although all mobile phones are made without the SIM lock originally, the majority of service providers have the SIM lock placed on before shipping to make it harder for people to leave their network.
However, it is much easier to remove a SIM lock than the service providers would have you believe, and is completely legal. It is not only fast and in most cases free or cheap to do, it also increases the resale value of the handset! So what are you waiting for?!
To unlock a handset, you need the unique unlock code created at the time of locking by the manufacturer to remove the SIM lock. Despite service providers requesting the lock in the first place, if you have been a customer of theirs for a long time they will often give you the unlock code for free.
If you can’t get the code from your service provider, then you have the option of purchasing one for a small fee from an independent third party vendor. These vendors purchase the unlock codes from manufacturers in bulk, and sell them on to people who can’t get them through their provider.
You can unlock the LG Optimus Black with or without a new SIM card, so once you have the unlock code you need, simply follow the steps for your situation.
If you don’t have a new SIM card yet:
1. Remove the current SIM card from the handset, and switch it on.
2. Press the Call button, followed by this code: 2945#*920#
3. Now enter your unlock code.
Your handset is now unlocked!
If you do have a new SIM card:
- Remove the current SIM card and replace with the new one.
- Switch the handset on and enter the unlock code.
