Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 vs. iPhone 5 iOS 7 (Explained)

If you are considering buying a smartphone you may be thinking – Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 vs. iPhone 5 iOS 7 Beta 2 – Which Is Faster?

With new updates coming from the two most popular handsets on the market, we take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 vs iPhone 5 iOS 7 Beta 2 specs to see which might come out on top.

The Galaxy S4 update for Android is based for the most part on LTE when it comes to speed.

This is what all the tech sites that have announced and the news have been reporting, that the S4 update will allow download speeds that are up to 4 times faster.

However, before you get too excited, it’s worth bearing in mind that ‘Advanced LTE’ will only have some benefits in certain countries?
Great for South Korean customers, less so for the rest of us.

In the UK, 4G rolled out earlier this year and is only available on EE.

Even then it’s debatable if it’s of much use outside of the capital.

Tests showed that in the cities that have so far rolled out 4G, signal strengths are hit and miss and when leaving city centers, it’s pretty much useless.

This is what you would expect from a network that so far, is only provided by one supplier.

Global 3G penetration?

The rest of the world doesn’t fare any better than the UK and even for the US, 3G has only reached an 83% penetration rate.

In Japan, 3G mobile broadband has only managed to reach a paltry 19% of citizens, so it seems unlikely that they’re ready for 4G yet.

In fact, a recent industry article from Marketing Land found that even in the North Americas, only 30% of smartphone users were able to get an adequate

4G connection.

Whilst it’s all very nice to have the very best 4G LTE technology on your shiny new Galaxy S4, is it really necessary to get the latest software in order to run something that it’s unlikely you can use?

Galaxy S4 king of smartphone software?

It could be said that the S4 really is the king of software, as it’s common knowledge that many of the software features found on the S4 are downloadable to the S3.

However, that doesn’t detract from the fact that it’s a nice handset and one that’s reported to be the fastest on the market already.

On your marks…

As for iOS7, well, iPhone updates tend to give nicer aesthetics, improved usability, they iron out the bugs, more than anything.

That’s not to say it’s not great, but if anything, many reports of the beta mention that apps are a little slow and clunky on the latest iOS offering when compared to the Android update on the Samsung.

So whats the answer, which is faster? Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 vs. iPhone 5 iOS 7 Beta 2

Oh, and did I mention that Advanced LTE itself is only accessible in Russia and South Korea, according to a recent Phones Review article?

It seems that we’re so obsessed with the speed of our gadgets, many of us are forking out for stuff we have no way of being able to use before the next upgrade is due, or the one after that, perhaps.
